We fail to learn the lessons.
We think that we know best.
That no one has gone before us.
That we are first to be put to each test.
Although each situation is different.
A pattern still runs through.
All the memories from history.
The basis is there, it’s true.
We forget that we’re just human.
And life is a precious gift.
Each day, each week, each moment.
We take for granted that should make our hearts lift.
Sentient beings, we might be that.
With blood coursing through our veins.
But we remain blind to what our eyes see.
The challenge for lasting peace still remains.
